I'd love to have a second screen when I'm traveling but still need to work.
Any recommendations? Is an inexpensive one fine? |
| My niece visited us just last week and worked daily while here. She had a 2nd display setup for her laptop that was thin, light weight and vibrant. Go to Amazon (or Best Buy….) and search for “portable pc display”. There are many and they seemed reasonably priced. |
I was actually looking for someone who knows more about it than I do, but thanks for trying. |
| Asus makes a great one. |
Thanks! Are any of them fine for editing documents and worksheets, or do I need to go for one of the fancier ones? |
What does the monitor have to do with editing a doc or “worksheet”? |

I got one of these and have been pretty happy with it: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09237LL5Q/ref=pe_386300_440135490_TE_simp_item_image
I work on a MacBook Air and apparently there is no second monitor that you can use with one of those, where you can do a touchscreen. That's really my only complaint - I'd like to be able to use it as a touchscreen. But even when I hook up my iPad to my computer as a second monitor I can't use the touchscreen, so that's not a fault with the monitor, it's a limitation of my computer. Anyway, the ViewSonic has been good for calls, editing docs, looking at spreadsheets. It's been really fine, and it's very lightweight, too. |
Why are you putting worksheet in quotes? I assume OP means spreadsheets. OP - I'm the ViewSonic person. When I asked some more tech savvy friends the same question, they all basically said that any monitor is going to be fine for those needs. Most said to get whatever's cheapest on Amazon - I spent about $30 more than that to get one with a brand name I recognized. |

This is the one that I bought and it’s worked well for me. I think a key thing is the size - you want it to be large enough to be useful, but you should think about how you will be transporting it too.

"workbook" is the Excel term, and the files are divided into sheets. The monitor is how you see documents and spreadsheets. You don't need a tremendously sharp picture to see text or numbers, but if you were working on graphics, you probably would. |
