Summer Fun centers at MoCo rec?

How do people use these? Have your kids liked them? Been bored? Our NRC is small but it sees a huge participation for Club Friday, which my kids enjoy. I'm thinking of signing up for summer fun for some morning coverage. Do people come and go throughout the day? Or am I wrong to think of it like drop-in care--the price is so low they can't really have a ton of programming, can they? Or do people do five full days?

The only thing that attracts to me is price. Other than that, I habe not tried to sign up for years becauae I am really concerned why it is so cheap. We need full day coverage for 5 days a week, and I am afraid that other families use that as a filler, come and go, and never plan for kids to stay the whole time. I am also suspicious of staff quality (probably some teens to earn SSL), and I think my kids are not fit enough for this camp because they need more supervision, structure and some baby sitting element. I am scared of bullying and safety reason in a big rec that people are allowed to come in and go since it is in rec center.

You get what you pay for. Some centers are better than others, but it’s basically daycare provided by teens. My kids were always bored, except a couple of times when they took them to the pool. It’s a great option for families who can’t afford anything else, though.

My kids have enjoyed the camp but we always try to sign up with friends.

MoCo heavily subsidizes the camp. At our location they brought in weekly instructors for Lacrosse and Tennis (no additional costs). They also have a weekly water play and movie day, and other activities.

We do not use it every day for the entire period, but definitely use it for at least 45-50% of the available time.

Is it impossible to sign up? I was logged on right at 6:30 and it keeps saying unavailable until 1/16 at 6:30. It's like it was never available? Should I just give up?

So frustrating. I can't tell if it's sold out already or if they just never made it available. I got right through at 6:30.

We haven't done the summer fun centers, but the county has some nice camps. Some of them fill so fast though! I don't remember the virtual waiting room in the past- I actually got in pretty quick and got the camps we wanted but other parents I know who logged on right at 630 didn't get out of the waiting room for a half hour or longer and everything was gone.
