Pedicure during 2ww after ET transfer

Anonymous
Curious whether it's safe to go for a pedicure and/or manicure during 2ww after embryo transfer. Not sure whether foot massage would interfere with the implantation.

I think you would be fine.

Remember, women NOT going through IVF get manis and pedis ALL THE TIME and still get pg.

With my pedicures there isn't really that much reflexology involved...if your masseuse is REALLY involved in that...just tell them that you are pg (because technically you are) and don't want them exploring any pressure points that would negatively impact a pregnancy.

Curious if anybody can weigh in on this subject. I want to do a pedicure at 7 days past 5 days transfer and wonder whether any type of massage would stimulate the points that can cause my uterus to contract, thus minimizing my chances.

I personally think it's silly to worry about this. However, if there is that much concern, just tell the person doing the pedicure to skip the foot massage.

I agree, there is probably zilch to worry about in this circumstance. But, as the PP mentioned, if it causes you that much worry, you should skip all together.

That's not helpful advice. If I could skip it, I would.

It is helpful. Skip the massage part and get the pedicure! Not all pedicures come with a massage.

Are you being forced to have a pedicure? I'm confused. Why can't you just say that you don't want one?

This is hilarious. I love the idea of being forced to have a pedicure. "No! Don't remove my callouses and paint my toenails! Nooo!"

If something was causing me enough worry to post this question, I really would skip it because it's not the pedicure that will cause problems, but the anxiety now tied up with it that's the issue.

Question is - if you don't get pregnant, will you always wonder if it was the pedicure that did it?

OK, got it. Thanks for everyone's opinion.

I totally hear your concern - look, it took A LOT of work to get to an embryo transfer!! I had a pedicure at 7 weeks after infertility treatments and was nervous as well - I told them no massage of my feet - and I also tried to avoid lots of fumes.

Thanks, PP, for understanding. This is my third embryo transfer. The last two were BFN and I pretty much stopped living my life during 2ww back then. This time I want to do things that I enjoy, but of course without jeopardising anything.

10:52 here - I totally completely 100% understand. I can even understand why you NEED a pedicure - you have spent weeks and weeks in monitoring appointments, dr's appts, giving shots, exhausted and you need some TLC - plus, it's sandals season and you may need to spend more time staring at your feet in stirrups (because this is going to work!!!) so time to get those tootsies cleaned up!! I have every finger and toe crossed for you that third time is the charm. Go for a nice walk after work today, watch something fun on TV, and plan a few more things that make you feel good in this TWW.

You are so sweet. Your kind words brought tears to my eyes. Thank you!
