What time do you work out as a parent?

Curious, working or stay at home parent.

Work full time but very flexible job. Kids are old enough to be left alone for short periods.

Workout before everyone else wakes up or take a midday class.

When my kids were younger I worked out at 5am, it was easy for me because I'm a morning person but I know not everyone is. Also for me with working out in the morning it really sets the tone for the rest of my day. I've done something amazing and good for myself and myself only, so I'm totally good with giving back to whoever or whatever needs me for the rest of the day.

6:30-7:30am - work from home most days. Kids leave for school at 8:35am.

Work at home parent with flex schedule. It's still harder than you think to find time for this! My workout schedule is extremely variable. My goal is 4-5x a week.

I just prioritize it and then commit to doing it when I have time. Some days I do it first thing after school drop off, before I have to hope on calls or get started on a project. But sometimes I need that time for personal administration (booking an appointment, following up on a test, vacation planning, etc.). So then I try to do it at lunch time and just eat while working.

If I don't manage to make it happen one of those times, I will shoehorn a short workout into the evening routine. Like tonight, my DH was also WFH today so he did pick up from aftercare, and I squeezed in a 20 minute workout and a quick shower while he did that. I will also sometimes do an online yoga class after kids go to bed (I will not have energy for anything more aerobic than that).

I wish I could have a regular workout schedule. Before kids I went to regular classes and I miss working out in person. But my schedule is so hectic, even with the flexibility (I guess in part because of the flexibility) that I just have to catch as catch can.

I am a teacher and in the evening. Early is too hard to get kids out the door.

SAHM. 8-9 am after I drop the kids off at school. Or 6am if I have school stuff or appointments. I’m a morning person.

Sometimes in the morning before work, sometimes on my lunch hour, sometimes after work.. I'm flexible.

I’m not a morning person at all and work full time with 2 kids. I don’t have time in the afternoon to work out and I’m exhausted by the evening. I wish I could wake up at 5:00 am to go to the gym like most people I know do!

I do at like 10/10:30 PM. My body loves doing it then and I genuinely look forward to it, but I kind of wish I would just get in the habit of waking up early and doing it very first thing in the morning

Once upon a time, I was great about early morning before kids got up. I went to work and got home and headed to bed early.

Then, I lost my mojo.

Sometime in late elementary school. Work changed, back injury and I was less routine. Another work change with lots of travel during HS years. Kids now college-age and I am really struggling to get back to a routine! I get in a daily walk with 1-2 more intense cardio days.

I long for the return to a daily solid workout, but am struggling to get back to it. My body and my mind need it.

My tip— do what you can to keep your routines! Good luck!

6-7:20 am. I work from home and my kids are older and can entertain themselves in the morning. I also have a spouse at home to handle breakfast.

A noon class is my favorite. I work from home so I start early and try to clear the urgent stuff off. But it's been so over the top busy at work since Covid that it's been hard for me to make that work and I am missing it. Early morning is tough because it's my busiest work time, and then early evening I'm running kids to activities.
