Boys or Girls? |

Good question! Boys!
|
| only private schools have good teams |

| I was told that Sherwood has a good team because a lot of their kids come in through OBGC. Paint Branch boys beat Sherwood though so im gonna assume PBHS has a pretty good team. No idea where that would place them countywide though. |

OP, check out the results of the recent state championships - and see for yourself.
But I second the post that privates are better since they actually recruit for basketball and quality of their teams is more or less constant. In publics, your results may vary from year to year depending on who comes in and who graduates. |

If you are looking for college recruitment, your son needs to be on a travel team. High schools are variable and like the poster above said, there is huge variation from year to year based only on the players. No public high school coach is the best at development.
College recruiters look at travel ball, and so do private schools. If your son is talented OR has the physical makings of a great basketball player the private schools will offer your son a scholarship. If your son has played travel and hasnt been picked up then your son may still get to play at the College level but the chances of this are extremely low if privates have passed on him already. |

You can check here for this past season. Most MCPS is 4A.
I would guess it varies based on which kids happen to be attending at a particular time. Private schools recruit. http://www.mpssaa.org/mobile/state-championships/basketball/mpssaa-basketball-state-championships-central/ |
| Variable because great players who are second string at their private come back to play first string at their home school. Then they graduate or find a first string spot at a different private. |
