If student gets their second choice in Round 1 what is the likelihood of getting first choice in Round 2? How would space open up between Rounds?

Spaces can open up when students assigned to the first choice school are invited to magnet/application programs.

We got this yesterday evening. And my child, although a top performer at school was not identified. The criteria says all children that meet the criteria will be selected. I need a better guideline for what the criteria are.

Wait, what? We are talking about HS programs, so no kids are identified. They apply. Are you maybe mistaking this for a MS thread?

There are a few hundred spots for the entire county. Most kids are shut out.

Am I having a stroke? The topic of this thread is DCC lottery, which is about which high school kids in the DCC attend, depending on a preference form we submitted months ago.

Oh I apologize. I am referring to the middle school criteria based lottery for Takoma Park and Eastern.

There is no criteria and based off preference except a few magnet or other programs that have very limited spots. You are not guaranteed your preference.

I wouldn’t hold out much hope for round 2. I don’t know anybody who has gotten in, in round 2. Doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen , but, I wouldn’t count on it.

For those of us whose kids got their THIRD choice, I find your post a bit irritating. But I get it. Does anyone know who they prioritize requests in Round 2?

It's worth a try. I know a few kids who got in second round.
