Antisemitic incident at paint branch Hs

During a pro Gaza walkout one student was reported as saying Hitler should be brought back and another said to kill the Jews

It's not important and I'll tell you why.

The teacher who reported the supposedly anti-Semitic comments could not corroborate their statement. There is no audio, video, or photo. The student denied it.

So in the absence of evidence, the Principal made the executive decision to not open an investigation, since it's obvious an investigation will go nowhere fast.

The OP of the deleted thread (perhaps the same OP who started this one) insisted that an investigation should have been launched regardless. They may have an argument. What they're missing is that Principals actually have a lot of leeway at their respective schools. A lot of things are their call. This is both good and bad, as we've seen in the Beidleman case (a black male Principal who sexually harassed and bullied numerous white female teachers, and was then promoted by Central Office). Point being: there are lots of calls made by Principals every single day, that usually nobody takes issue with.

But as soon as Palestinian support groups appear, all of a sudden certain people are very interested in due process.

Please note the Daily Wire report grudgingly reports that there is no evidence.

So shocking than an MCPS principal failed to follow policy.

So it is your position that if a staff member reports something to their principal but doesn’t have a photo or video of it and the student denies it, that the principal should assume the teacher is lying and just tell the teacher oh well? Sounds like that teacher who reported her student’s threats of a weapon up to administrators and they didn’t believe her or investigate thoroughly and the kid shot her. Come on. The principal needs to take a teacher’s report seriously.

+1. That’s a dangerous precedent. So same premise… if a student is assaulted by another student but there is no ‘evidence” that means it’s not important? No. No no. This is why MCPS is in the state it is. Principals are not judges and juries.

This incident at Paint Branch was discussed at the school board meeting today. Relevant testimony starts at 45:00.

This acting principal messed up by:

- Not filing an official complaint with central office. If she thought going to the police was too far, reporting it to CO was not.
- Offering the students participating in the protest excused absences violates MCPS's policy on walkouts which says student should get unexcused absences
- Issuing glowing praises about how wonderful the walkout was despite repeated concerns from the teacher was a slap in the face
- MCPS admin gaslighting and dismissing their teachers is a feature not a bug of the system

The link was posted without additional comment. Admin always deletes link-only threads.

Looks like they reposted with a comment, and it's been allowed to remain.

Link was posted without comments. From the FAQs and Guidelines:

"Should I post a message that contains nothing but a link to an article somewhere else on the Internet?

No. The DCUM Forums are not your Facebook or Twitter Feed. With a few exceptions, our forums are meant for discussion. If you think an article on another website is worth discussing, then please post a brief summary of the article or some commentary about the article along with the link. That will allow readers to make a more informed choice whether to click on the link."

Personally I think the MCPS policy of reporting every tiny allegation to the police goes way too far. But even so, the problem here of course is the unequal application of the policy. Of COURSE a similar allegation about anti-black hate speech would have been taken very seriously. That the admin apparently just concluded the teacher was lying is disturbing. And of course, her non-neutral support of the anti-Israel protests was totally wrong.

There's nothing "of COURSE" about it. It would be really great if people stopped playing comparative victimhood games.

come on. we all know that if a white kid was reported by a teacher as saying slurs and hateful things about black kids, it would have been treated very differently.

No, "we" don't all "know" that. You, personally, might believe that to be so.
