Does anyone have experience with this group? It's finally becoming clear to me that I have a problem, but I was curious what the group is like and how helpful it is. |
OA follows the same model as AA, and encourages abstinence from certain types of foods. Lots of online resources and also local meetings depending on where you live.
https://oa.org/ There is a similar program called Greysheeters Anonymous. Both have online meetings and resources you can check out from home, and local meetings as well depending on where you live. https://www.greysheet.org/ If you want a good look inside the GA approach, you might want to read Judy Collins's book Cravings. |
That sounds like an eating disorder church or sonething. weird. |
OP here is another good resource you might want to check out:

You might want to start here instead of OA or GA - both of those approaches leave a lot of room for shaming over willpower/abstinence, but this PhD promotes a healthier approach to dealing with food addiction:

I’ve been in a similar program for 30 years and am maintaining a 145 pound weight loss. It saved my life. It may not be for everyone but it’s worked for me and I’m happy.
