Is AP biology A & B (double period) worth 1 credit or 2 credits? I have gotten different answers and wanted to ask the dcum experts?

1 credit, A is one semester which is 0.5 and B is on semester which is another 0.5. The double period doesn’t affect credit amount.

The MCPS catalog says 1 credit per semester, compared to 0.5 credits per semester for most classes.

Do (non-magnet) schools offer both DP and an non-double period version for academically adept students? Or skipping basic Bio?
3 Bio credit-hours over 4 years is overkill just to get through AP

Or does each school decide how fast their students are allowed to go? (Do the WPHS have the single period version?) So advanced learners who don't go magnet or privileged schools get shut out of academic opportunities?

In the prehistoric era, AP classes were single period/credit, and sometimes didn't even require an HS version first.

My kid is at Blair, not in the STEM magnet. He is taking AP Bio as a single period. Class moves quickly but manageable workload. Does require outside reading.
