Chinese grandparents, DH and I want chinese food for lunar new year get together. BIL, SIL and kids from theirs or ours do not want chinese food. BIL does not want to find a restaurant to eat out. Now, lunar new year becomes potluck dinner, and BIL/SIL family will bring pizza to grandparent place to celebrate lunar new year. That is kind of sad. We need to bring some food for everyone to eat. There will be 6 adults and 3 kids under 7. Grandparents are diabetic and try to cut carb, and my kids love meat and sweets.
We only have pizza now. I am thinking of bringing something chinese, like pan fried dumpling from supermarket store. I am not good at cooking, and DH says to bring something asian theme. Any suggestion that we could bring other than dumplings? Something easy to cook, and kid friendly please. |

Noodles - for a long happy life
Fish - for prosperity Dumplings/springrolls - for wealth I think a variety of asian appies would be a great potluck dish. |

Oh my goodness, I try to be tolerant of dietary preferences, but there is such a huge range of Chinese food that your ILs should suck it up for one meal and find something they like. They can eat pizza any of the other 365 days this calendar year.
Stir fries are quick and customizable. Get lots of veggies and tofu. Cook some rice. Or if you do pork, I haven't made this but a friend who is a good cook recommended it and I bookmarked: https://www.the-girl-who-ate-everything.com/keto-egg-roll-in-a-bowl/#recipe |
| I love the Thai pizza from California Pizza Kitchen. |
| Is this a mixed white family? Pizza on CNY? What a disgrace. |

| Why can't you get Chinese takeout, and BIL gets takeout pizza? Get ice cream and a traditional New year's dessert like pineapple tarts or whatever your family prefers. This is not difficult! |
Yeah, I am a pretty open-minded guy and ready and willing to eat anything but... this is just wrong. |
