| For those whose kids are in MLSNext/ECNL, what does their summer training and soccer activities look like? |
Son is in ECNL, his team has made National playoffs every year so we train through late July. After playoffs end, training for the following season starts in August so we only get a few weeks off from club team training. During that time off, kids usually do some summer league stuff and train on their own as they are older now. Years ago, they would find camps, etc. But essentially, training never stops except when we go on vacation and he still brings a ball to play on the beach, etc. |
Most kids do training on their own or with their friends. Nothing formal. If your kid is high school age, then they may do high school summer soccer. But there's really not much going on. |
| Follow a specific off-season program that is different from anything you do during the year. It's time to focus on all the things you don't have time to focus on while you are in season to improve your game and also explore other passions during this time. |
So I’m assuming DS can talk to their coach about specific things to work on or build upon and then create an off-season program based on that feedback? Or perhaps have an assessment done by a third party and work off that? |
