I grew up in Arlington, but now live 2 hours away in the Shenandoah Valley. I have a child in kindergarten and 3rd grade. I'm looking to find a great website to find cool events and activities this winter. I have family in Arlington and Alexandria, but they have babies/toddlers and aren't necessarily looking for the same things.
Things have changed SO SO much since I was a kid! I've missed learning about a lot of events until it's too late. I'm hoping to do at least 1 fun winter weekend. I saw that there is ice skating at the Wharf! (Is it any good??). I always went ice skating at the sculpture garden (I loved it and can remember several high school dates) or Pentagon City (which was just okay). I'm also interested in exploring possible performances, cool exhibits, cool markets, and restaurants with casual or cool experiences. My older child is VERY into FACTS, ancient hx - early humans is his current interest and anything with math. My kindergartener is VERY physically active and loves to play, anything with transportation, and dance. We all love trying new foods and markets but my oldest would love special kid-appropriate afternoon tea's, ect. I FINALLY took my kids to the Cherry Blossom Festival last year for the first time and we loved it. I had only been to the wharf once; it's amazing how much more is there now. We've got free lodging with our family and the energy to explore so share away ![]() Thanks ![]() |
