New Technical Director at VDA

Saw Aaron Brunner announced as new Technical Director at VDA. Is he taking over for MW? Will he coach the 08 team? Does that team even have a coach anymore? Amazing move on their part. Wonder if some of the Richmond girls will make the drive to VDA.

Also saw he is head coach at George Mason. How will this work? Seems like a good move on their part but that is quite a bit of responsibility.

He's not the actual TD. He's just an advisor, this news is about the same as the owner of the commanders hiring on Bob Myers to advise him on things.

Honestly if anything, this is more of a PR move. I'd assume he may have some input here or there but he's from the area. I'm sure he knows coaches, especially ones within that group of clubs. Slapping on the TD Advisor name to it is just labelling what happens when friends ask for advice.

It is a bit of a grasp making an announcement for an 'advisor'. He'll have his hands full already in his first year at Mason. Unlikely he will have a huge impact at the club as an advisor. I guess at least its kudos to VDA for making some kind of staff announcement but there are still actual holes to fill there for sure.

This was my feeling, too.

Felt like they were trying to motivate their membership or something.

Is it just me or is anyone else's alarms going off with all these coaches double and triple-dipping to make as much money as they can while completely making player development their last priority? I see a ton of coaches who are coaching NCAA Div 1 teams and being a club coach for 1-3 teams at a time!!!...some with even titles like Director or co-director of ECNL. 1. How do they find the time? 2. How is this legal? 3. Quantity over Quality? There is no way this is efficient. Poor players. They just have to put up and shut up. There should be a cap on how many teams 1 man can coach at a time.

Where is there a D1 WSOC coach that also doubles as a youth club coach?

It’s just you.

That's really seems like a lot to head a D1 program and then also coach multiple youth clubs.

In this situation however, AB isn't slated to take on any teams. He's just an advisor to VDA and its partner clubs.

Seems kind of similar to when McLean/Union hired KT from GT. He was more an advisor not the actual Club Director.

He is the new Girls ECNL Director. Press release went out today.

Fellow VDA parents - how are we feeling about this?
