Camp Friendship?

Considering Camp Friendship for my middle schoolers. I am interested in any feedback. We are not doing the equestrian camp. Did kids have fun? How were the counselors?

We've only been there for Family Camp (in the fall), but had a good time. The cabin sleeping accommodations were a bit spartan for my wife's tastes, but were pretty comparable to what I've seen elsewhere for sleepaway camps. Overall the facilities were good. ES-age DD did interact with the staff who were there and made fast friends with a few. So can't give you a full a review, but we had a fun/positive experience.

We have done this camp for 3 years, my kids love it. Very traditional rustic outdoors camp, if your kid needs electronics, air conditioning, or is scared of swimming in the lake and playing dodgeball it’s not for you. Like many sleepaway camps there are lots of foreign counselors, which we enjoyed.

My daughter attended Camp Friendship for 7 or 8 years- probably would have been a counselor but for the Covid shutdown. She loved it so much. Honestly, I thought it was a bit dumpy but the kids and counselors were great and the founder/owner was involved every day even though he must have been in his late 70s. The food was good and the location is pretty convenient to northern Virginia.

The founder recently passed away but his family is continuing to run the camp. Nice to have this option just 2 hours from DC.
