Help! Gifts for 11 & 14 y/o girls

I am visiting family this week and am in desperate need of gift suggestions for 11 and 14 year old girls. My kids are very young, so I have NO idea what might be considered a safe bet. I would rather get an actual gift than a gift card to amazon or itunes, etc.

I do know that their mom once mentioned that they are NOT into this whole Hanna Montana or High School Musical hype (not that I really know what either of those things are).

Any ideas?!

I think with an 11 year old you're safe if you get some kind of craft project or art supplies. The 14-year-old I don't know. My daughter is 14 and her tastes are so specific to particular authors, tv shows, and music. Maybe inexpensive jewelry?
