New up charge at Dry Bar

Anonymous
Apparently, the Dry Bar at Pike & Rose in North Bethesda is now charging an up charge if your hair takes longer than 45 minutes. Apparently, it’s the surcharge for ethnic hair. Too bad the staff spends half the time complaining and chatting with each other rather than doing your hair in an by efficient manner.

If it takes them more than 45 minutes, they should give you a discount.

I can’t believe something like this could happen at Pike and Rose, an upscale mixed use development designed to look vaguely like old warehouses.

Wow do you "assume" a lot! I have long straight blonde hair and fully expect to pay more if needed.

NP if your hair is obscenely long perhaps you should pay more. But the fact is that curly hair does take longer to straighten than straight hair of the same length. This charge does seem discriminatory.

Yeah, I would invoice for my time. I am expensive.

I did this at a doctors office once that kept me waiting.

Sounds to me it is based on time, not hair type. But I don't see everything through a racist lens.

This isn't new. I'm white but have extremely thick horse hair and they've always charged me more. It takes an hour to dry my hair. I get it.

I have super thick blonde hair that takes forever too. I always pay more. My husband does call it my horse mane.

It's not natural and we all know it, sweetie.

Lol actually, no my hair isn't coarse. It's think like a horse's mane. Thanks though!

I can’t see charges without having an account?

Aren’t Dry Bars franchised now?

Wish they gave a discount for thin fine hair that takes 20 minutes. 🙄
