What are their names and major beliefs?

I don't think it's possible to get an accurate number. What do you define as a religion? Do you consider voodoo a religion?

Think of how many tribes there are throughout the world; each may have their own set of tribal beliefs, and then add those onto the major world religions and it's a lot.

What constitutes a new religion? Is Roman Catholicism separate from Russian Orthodox? Are Baptists and Methodists separate? What about the United Methodist church and the global Methodist church?
