Felt sick the 30th, tested the 1st—negative. Symptoms didn’t get worse, but weren’t getting better. On the 4th, symptoms started getting worse (horrible cough, constant need to blow nose), tested positive, and now on the 6th (day 8) I’m sick as a dog.
Wondering if it’s the covid or if I caught something new/else on top of it. |

If you start your count from the day of your positive test, you're right on schedule, OP.
It has about a 5-day lead time before you'll test positive, IME. And then, Day 5 (which is Day 1 of your positive) is a doozy. Counting from the day your viral load is high enough to pop positive, the general timeline is something like this: Days 1-3: Fever (if any), body aches, headache, sore throat, and fatigue. Day 4-7: Other symptoms commonly worsen or peak around this time. Nasal and sinus congestion may worsen, and mucus may turn yellow or green (this is normal!). A cough may develop. Days 7+: Most symptoms will improve by this time, but a cough may linger for up to a few weeks. Nasal symptoms should be getting better, but they may also take a couple of weeks to resolve completely. |
| Yes it did |
| No, I was fine after 24 hours and stayed fine. |
| Yes |

I didn’t, no. I only had mild symptoms and felt completely back to normal within 3 days.
My DH had more severe symptoms, but his were starting to resolve by day 6. |
| no, but you may want to talk to your doctor. Paxlovid isn't as effective at this point as it is earlier, but it might still help. If you also have the flu you could get tamiflu. Also if you got a secondary bacterial infection like a sinus infection or pneumonia you might need antibiotics. Do you have a pulse oximeter? |
| I just tested positive again, 10 days after initial positive and after 2 negatives post-Paxlovid. No fever this time but cough, fatigue, sinus pain, loss of taste. |
| No, started doing better day 7, still have a cough and fatigue |
| I tested positive the first full day I had symptoms (felt it coming on the night before) and the worst of it was over after 3 days of fever/chills/sore throat. I was feeling about 80% better by day 5. Congestion/sinus headaches annoyingly hung around for another week or 10 days. |
| No. Started mild symptoms on a Wednesday (stuffy nose, mild cough, no fever, no fatigue). Took a test on 12/24 before we gathered with family just to see and it was positive. At that point I already felt almost 100% and continued to be fine. Much milder than when I had it in April of 2021. |
