DC restaurants for 15-20 ppl

Anonymous
We’re doing a family reunion in DC March 30 weekend. 15-20 people ranging in age from 3 to 67. I need suggestions for 2 restaurants that can accommodate the group. One more upscale and one more casual.

Thanks!

Forgot to mention- they’re staying near the White House, we live in Bethesda.

Maggianno’s is popular for a reason. They have private rooms and will please a wide range of tastes — including the 3 year old. Carmine’s? Mei Wah, in Friendship Heights, could be another good option, but isn’t terribly convenient given their near the White House location.

Could you say more about what you mean by “ upscale”? Most of the places I’m thinking of might not be my first pick for a family group including a 3 year old, although if you could get a private dining room, that might work well. Maybe Clyde’s or Old Ebbit Grill?

Are price or food preferences a concern?

Would you be open to a private room or not? Private rooms can be more expensive but many restaurants can only accomodate a group that size in a private room.

Yes open to a private room. More upscale, thinking steak house, zaytinya, compass rose, Le diplomate (not sure these places have a space). The little kids might not join for the fancier dinner.

Anything near Union Station?

Definitely not a chain or touristy spot if we can help it. I’ll try Filomena too.

Hamilton (near WH) or the Clyde’s at Gallery Place? The Clyde’s is a few levels and has lots of nice side rooms.
