Would you choose to live in the same neighborhood if you had to do it again?
Abso-freaking-lutely. I am probably one of the few on this board who doesn't live in a single family home, but my building is an old restored church and the walls/ceilings are thick, the whole place is silent and lovely and my neighbors are quiet and great. I love my building and my neighborhood.
I love my neighborhood -- Chevy Chase DC. For the most part, my neighbors are wonderful. There are a few anti-social, paranoid types but they are harmless enough. Everyone else is generous and lovely.
Nope. About 75% of my neighbors drive Lexuses and Mercedes, don't pay their HOA dues, and are in the process of foreclosure.
Completely. We couldn't have done better if we had gone out and interviewed prospective neighbors. They are fabulous.

Nope. No. Never.
My neighbors blast music we can hear ALL THE TIME. They smoke outside and it wafts into our house. The neighborhood kids think yards are common area and don't think twice about using them as their own private space. We lose cable/internet everytime someone farts. No one seems to know how to use a trash can so the crows rip the plastic bags open. Lots of renters so no one cares what the homes look like. I HATE IT. CANNOT WAIT TO MOVE. |
Chevy Chase, DC -- love our neighbors. Some of them aren't social, which is fine. Generally everyone is great and friendly and will help out in a pinch.
Loudon County? PG? Gaithersburg? Ashburn? |
Love Section 3 in CC, MD
Yes, absolutely. Takoma Park, MD
I live in Chevy Chase, MD, few blocks over the line, and I could have written the same thing. Love my neighbors, hang out with them, but totally have those paranoid types. |
We love our neighbors in Cleveland Park.
We live near downtown Silver Spring and we love our neighbors and neighborhood. It is a real sense of community and there are a lot of events throughout the year, etc. And our immediate neighbors are all great.
We live on Capitol Hill. Other than the crack house on the corner, the neighbors are generally very nice. I wish I had more actual friends that lived close by rather than very casual acquaintances, but I think that's luck of the draw in terms of which block you live on. There are certainly plenty of people on the block that are roughly our age, with small kids, etc., but just nobody that I've clicked with. I would live here again.
We really like our neighbors in Derwood. When we were looking at houses, this was the only neighborhood we looked in where neighbors made a point of saying hello to us, telling us how much they enjoyed the neighborhood, what they thought about the local schools, etc.
