| I purchased a policy with them on the 15th of last month. A full policy still hasn’t been issued and I have a temporary policy. Is this normal for them? One agent said yes, the other told me not to cancel my old policy just yet. |
| So you’re paying for double coverage? |
That’s what I was told to do until the policy was issued. I’d figured it would just be a few days but it’s gone on. |
| Just back date the policy you cancel |
|
Call the agent maybe.
I have had State Farm since 1987 or something. It’s always been fine. |
Have you ever had to make a claim? |
Yes, a couple of times. Never had a problem. The ONLY thing I didn’t like is I once made an uninsured motorist claim when someone backed into my parked car in a DC garage while I was working. I discovered it when I came down to commute home. It resulted in about $2,500 in front-end damage to the light assembly and panels etc. There were absolutely no issues fixing it with State Farm, it’s just that five years later when I went to trade it in on a new car they told me the CarFax came back reporting the car having been in an “accident” and they lowballed the trade-in by … you guessed it! About $2,500! Could have just been a sleazy car dealer but the “accident” notation was definitely on the CarFax. I guess technically it qualified but I don’t think this is what most people think when they hear “accident.” Most people would think of a collision where two cars were in motion at the same time. |
| Love State Farm. It might not be the cheapest, but they’ve always been there for me with zero fighting when I needed them. Family has been using them for like 70 years. |
| Any claim filed will always be on the records. The repair will impact your car’s resell value no matter which insurance company you have. |
