Generator Hotel in DC

Any feedback? Is it a decent location for young people staying to explore the city? Reasonably safe location?

It sounds like it is a a hostel type hotel.

They are a chain of hostels/budget hotels in Europe. Yes, its aimed toward young travelers on a budget. I stayed in them in Berlin, Amsterdam, and London twenty years ago and there was always shenanigans going down.

DC version is in a good location.

The DC one is in a great location - walkable to lots of things to do and restaurants/bars/coffee shops as well as a metro stop.

I've stayed there. You can get private rooms with bathroom that are pretty decent. A step above a hostel.
Very safe location, across from a Hilton or Marriott. 20 min walk from Dupont circle or take the bus. Lots of places to eat in Dupont circle. Nice cafe downstairs.
I'd stay again.

I live a few blocks away. Pretty much as safe as you'll get right in DC; highly walkable area in between two metro stops and buses in each direction pretty much right out front. I always see young people, bikes, etc. out front. There seems to be a good feel around the place and seems less touristy somehow than others nearby.
