College and University Discussion
|
Should the students be involved in the choice of the next president of Harvard University?
Should the actual student body be a part of the process? |
|
“… To pursue a career as a college president, you typically need a doctorate in education, economics, or a related field. You must also have a proven record of success in higher education. You can gain this experience by working as a university professor or administrator. Maintaining a clean public record is also essential..”

No. Here’s hoping they replace Gay with another equally woke person just to infuriate the right wingers who are evidently all about cancel culture. |
That would just re-create the cycle. |

I think the young progressive ivy leaguers will do the right thing here and elect this type of candidate: https://youtu.be/MgzTDyjNRRs?si=SCWBDjn06pBQLsxK
It’s the only way to ensure all is all and education is all. |
| No. Students come and go. Harvard is forever. (Haha) |
| No |
But, still no. A student rep or two on the committee? Sure. The student body as a whole? Nah. |
| No |
| There usually are student reps on the search committee. |
As long as the next woke President isn’t a serial plagiarist that would be fine. |
| It would be tough for 18-year-old students to catch a serial plagiarist |
|
Almost all university search committees have a student rep.
Not Harvard, but I served as the student rep on a committee to hire the President at the college I attended. |
| The same students who perpetuated anti-semitic hate speech? No. |
| Most search committees for high level positions (deans, presidents) have some sort of student representation. It's a big committee with faculty, staff, administrators, alumns, trustees, and probably a student or two. |
