25% Test Score Submission & Success in Admission?

Anonymous
Has your kid had (or have you heard) of success (e.g., admission) to a T25 when submitting test scores exactly at the 25% (per schools CDS) in last cycle?

If so, can you name school and score?

Older anecdotes appear to be less relevant in this rapidly changing testing environment…

Interesting way to ask this question.

I’m not sure you’ll get a lot of responses here (try Reddit or CC); it’s quite hard to see how many “non-hooked” applicants fall at the low end of the CDS scores ranges.

Wonder if there’s a way to otherwise get this data in an aggregated way?

^I agree with the PPs - interesting question and you should try reddit.

I suspect the answer will depend on the school's philosophy about scores, and where its evolution currently sits in the rapidly-changing environment. We see Yale Dartmouth etc using scores as evidence of academic preparedness, so a 25th percentile score supports the idea, along with the transcript of course, that the student can do the work. Other schools may not have reached that point yet, still playing games with scores, and don't want their reported ranges to suffer, so are happy to gamble on a TO applicant rather than see their 25th percentile fall back to earth.

Kid got into VT with a 28 ACT. Definitely on the low end.

Nevermind, not a sub T25.
