and is there a service that can send someone to do it at home?
My knives are dull and I never have gotten them professionally sharpened. Thanks in advance |
| I have a small knife sharpener. Work Sharp is the brand |
| Roaming Stone: https://m.facebook.com/profile.php/?id=100063944323727 |
| Oh wow, it’s going to be like getting new glasses. We send ours out to a Japanese sharpener, we aren’t in DVM so no help there. Don’t cut yourself! |

I have one from wirecutter that works fine.
You can take them to the hardware store. They’ll use the same thing. You can take it to a fancy man, like the one at Union Market. I really think that overkill for 99.99% of people and knives. |

Dh takes it to grinding company of America in Baltimore. They do a great job.

I sharpen my knives at home with this sharpener I bought based on ATK’s recommendation.

Not really. Does the hardware store sharpen at different angles, based on the provenance of the knife? I'm guessing not. (If they do, I'm definitely going there.) |
This one is even better, but either will do a great job. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0018RSEMU/ref=dp_ob_neva_mobile |
| I took them to Twins Ace Hardware in Rosslyn. They have a machine that does it. Everyone in the shop was fascinated and stopped to watch it. (Resharp machine). It cost $8 per knife. My knives are 30+ years old. They were very sharp afterwards. You can check what other stores offer this machine. |

I've taken mine to Sur la Table:

| I take mine to the Kensington Farmers market. It might be the Roaming Stone guy that comes, but not sure. I use a sharpening steel at home on a fairly regular basis in between. |
| My knife set came with a sharpener. |
| My local hardware store. Maybe$5-$8 a blade? |
