Elder in home care company?

In search of an in home elder care company that has FANTASTIC nurses. My grandmother will be coming home from hospital soon and we need care similar to that at the hospital, that includes equipment. Does anyone know a company like this? Price does not matter

I think everyone is ISO same.

Keep your expectations low. Be happy to find an agency with reliable coverage. After a while you will know which people to request. Be very nice to them so they will want to come back.

I’d strongly recommend a local company with personal service. There are a few that almost operate like an Uber- you put in your request and they farm it out to whoever is willing to pick up a shift. That person has no clue about your loved one or their needs.

Call around and find a company that hires their own employees and is responsive. The first one I used was recommended by the hospital and they only use an answering service and someone different calls back (sometimes hours later).

Also call a few because they vary in price. Most have minimum (4-6 hours). Where I am in Virginia my quotes range from $33-$39 an hour.

Just started needing care for my mom but I think people are talking about home health aides, not nurses. Do you need an actual nurse?

I’m paying 35-37/hr in VA for an aide. Quality is so-so.

For home health aides, we pay $35/hour in VA at my house, the McLean tax raises that $45/hour for my brother’s house. We’ve had a great experience with Home Instead using the Annandale office and the Leesburg one. Every aide has been pretty universally sweet, kind and hard working.
