I love my current furniture pieces but would need an interior designer for some finishing touches which include help with choosing :
- drapes / window treatments - paintings - accessories / table lamps I’ve interviewed 2 designers so far and they’ve both wanted to start from scratch . For the record, my current furniture is very basic and classical ( so not hard to style around ) Any recommendations? |
| No recommendations, but keep trying. It’s not an uncommon ask. Are you willing to throw in painting the walls? I realize that is way more expensive than people make it out to be, but it might help sweeten the pot, so to speak. |
OP here . Yes, I could use a fresh coat of paint if that can help . |
| Take pictures of all 4 walls of your room and take measurements.Set up an account on Houzz, go to the design dilemma section and post pictures along with your questions. |
| Houzz is dead but you could try an online design service |
| Use an online service or a store designer. |
| Did the designers tell you they don’t want to work with your furniture or that the budget for the project doesn’t fit their model? |
| I haven’t found anyone really good who does this. Most designers want to order the big furniture to be worth their time |
|
| Try Mintwood Home. She’s local and has an edesign package for this very situation. |
| They don't really make money doing this. A big part of the way they make money is commission on the new furniture. So it just isn't worth their while to do what you are asking. |
| You could try Redbird Redesign. |
| Look for an interior decorator not designer—yes there is a difference. |
Yes, she advertises on DCUM and MONA at least once a month so she must be good. |
| There are people on Etsy that will do this. |
