I was going to post this in the radiation concerns topic but it seems to deserve it's own topic now. After reading the posts there about Fairfax Radiology and their new low radiation cat scans, I switched my appointment from WRA. I went to one of their offices this weekend (they have offices open on both Sat and Sun all day!). It took me 15 mintues from Bethesda. The office was nice and clean but not overdone. The staff were all great and could tell I was nervous about the results, so they asked if I'd like the radiologist to fax the results on the same day. They assured me that if anything serious showed up that my doctor would get a personal call even on a Saturday. I was in and out quickly. My doc called me today and went over the results (everything ok thankfully). Like a previous poster, I asked her about Fairfax vs the other groups and got the same answer (overall, they're the best, period).

We're big fans of Washington Radiology. Very patient oriented practice. Doctors come in and talk to us about our studies and results.
Do they do radiation therpay as well?
My cousin is a radiology resident and says that FRC is the premier group in the area and is extremely hard to get a job with. They recruit from the best programs in the country and don't usually hire residents from this area. The other groups, including WRA, usually are recruits second choice in FRC isn't hiring. Neither FRC nor WRA has radiation therapy. Both are diagnostic radiology groups. WRA only has outpaitent offices while FRC is also associated with Fairfax hospital and has a well known interventional subdivision.
We went to Wash Radiolgy for our baby's ultrasound and found them to be a little too slick, almost pretending to be a spa. I may be old fashioned, but prefer my radiologist to be focused on the medical side rather than too many bells and whistles.
