Mother-daughter trip to LA

Anonymous
I’m taking my 13 yo daughter to LA this summer for 3-4 nights. Neither of us have ever been. Looking for recommendations on everything, but particularly a nice area to stay in town that has some local attractions. Any recommendations for activities, restaurants, things to avoid, everything welcome!!

Mine is the Din Tai Fung and wB tour recommendation.

Santa Monica Pier and the area around that, Gladstone's in Malibu, the Grove.

Definitely do some studio tours (we did WB and Paramount -- we all preferred the Paramount tour but that may be because none of us are big Gilmore Girls fans). Also The Grove and Sugarfish for sushi. Also check our one of the big farmers markets.

I just got back from CA. We were only in LA briefly so I don't have a ton of recommendations, but we did have a 12yo with us. We stayed at the Magic Castle Hotel--which is not fancy by any stretch but was unbelievably kid friendly (free candy and ice cream, a popsicle phone by the pool). It's near Universal. We were able to go to brunch at the Magic Castle (which is a private club for magician's) which was also really fun.

My 12yo is not really into movie stuff, but we did wander around the walk of stars and Chinese Theatre (walking distance from the hotel) and she liked that. You can look up where the stars of people she likes are.

She absolutely loved Griffith Observatory. I wasn't expecting it, but it was one of her favorite things about the trip. We ended up not going to Santa Monica because of weather, but she had been excited to see the Pacific Ocean.

The Wb studio tour is fun. Griffith observatory is neat. Getty center if kiddo likes art. Universal studios Hollywood is right there if you guys like Harry Potter, rides, etc. easy to do in one day.

Agree on studio tour. If you're into movies and rides, you can do the Universal VIP tour, which includes both. Santa Monica pier is fun, as is shopping at Abbott Kinney in Venice.
