This house photoshopped in exterior fencing

This house in Alexandria has nice iron and stone fencing in the front yard (see photo #3)…but I drove by today and there is no front yard fencing at all. Turns out they photoshopped it in. (house is overpriced anyway for being next to a busy intersection).

Aren’t there standards that prevent false photoshopping of permanent fixtures like a fence into listings?

I mean…it looks photoshopped in the picture. 😂😂

I once saw a listing where there was a swimming pool photoshopped into the backyard. The listing said "backyard has room for a pool", but I thought it was a weird thing to do.

Fake furniture, fake grass, fake skies, fake lighting, and now we get fake fencing. There are no limits to how agents will alter images to make a house look better than it actually is.

Yeah that is ridiculous, can't believe they photoshopped in non existant fencing. Makes you wonder what else they photoshopped. Funny thing is, obvious to tell both in terms of the quality of the PS, but also by just doing the 3d tour (no fencing in the 3d tour).

The listing is also a little confusing, is this a new build or a flip (seems like a flip, last major reno was 2023)? The listing indicates that it was built in 1976, and that it was sold for $725k in 2021. Tax records indicate that the tax assessment in 2023 is 697k. All this being said, since flip, what did they do to increase the value of the house by $1.1 million in 2 years to justify the 1.8m asking price....

Furthermore, if one can afford 1.8m, why would they buy there instead of say in N Arlington or NW DC. For a little more you can get a place in a better area with better schools (granted if you can afford a nearly 2m place, chances are that you can afford private but still).

You can tell from the pics of the rear of the house that there is no fence in the front and like PP said, it LOOKS photoshopped. How stupid.

It's a flip+major renovation - they added a third story on top of the original split level and completely redid the exterior. We had neighbors in Arlington that did this, theirs was uuuugly though. Here's the 2021 listing: https://www.longandfoster.com/homes-for-sale/3602-Russell-Road-Alexandria-VA-22305-322402925

They moved the door up to the middle level, so it's not a split level anymore, and they moved the stairs to the back of the house.

The redesign tool is sick!
Is that something new that Redfin recently came out with?

It’s a very nice neighborhood if you go a few blocks back but this particular property is too close to a very busy intersection for buyers in the $1.8m range—which is why it isn’t selling.

And yes, plenty of buyers in this location and price range choose private schools anyway.

Plenty of people choose Alexandria over Arlington, particularly if they're planning in private school regardless of location. And $1.8M in NW DC isn't getting you anything recently renovated.

They did a good job with the renovation and used a legit GC. It's way better than some other recent flips in North Ridge. Biggest problem is that it's on Russell Rd. This would have already sold if it was even one block into the neighborhood.

In the property details under Exterior/Building Information, it says “Construction Not Completed”. I wonder what that is in reference to?
