| If for a child’s room, I’d prefer the one with color. But I think the buildings are better in the others. |

Playful, Gentle, Bold
Maybe missing an adventurous version? Rather than what others like, which would your child like? |
|
Creepy, welcoming, modern.
I like the 2nd one best. |
| What age? I like the 3rd one best, but for an older kid and planning for washable markers the kid can use to color it in themself. |
|
2 or 3, but if 3 they will want to color.
What do they evoke? Feelings of "huh. some people are decorate-the-nursery people, and some are not." |
| Hectic and anxiety-causing. Possibly the middle one is okay. But in general I prefer serene images of nature rather than manmade stuff |
This exactly. The first one is super creepy, especially in a kids room. They are all extremely busy and evoke feelings of stress to me. I like my house to be calm, but it’s yours not mine so do whatever you like |

The first one reminds me of the book Madeline.
I like the second the best. It has a slightly English traditional vibe that I personally really like |

Hmm. I've been staring at them for a while trying to figure out how to answer your question. I think the truth is that they all strike me as cold -- like emotionally cold. Probably because they look like pages from a book. (FWIW, I'm a writer, I love books -- it's just that this is ... I don't know ... two dimensional when I feel like it shouldn't be? I don't know.)
If I had to pick one it would be the second one, because the color warms it up. |
PP at 19:59 here. I agree -- these are anxiety-causing for me as well. Not sure why. |
Thanks PPs. Here is another I am considering:
I do like storybook vibes! Does this one also induce anxiety for some? |
| Way too busy - all of them |
| Agree that all (including the 4th) evoke anxiety for me. Not sure why. I love a decorated nursery, but none of these seem soothing or warm to me. |

I actually like the Dutch buildings (top building pic) but I would have the windows colored an icy/glassy blue instead of yellow. The yellow isn't the right shade of cheery yellow.
Does your child like Richard Scarry books? They have that cluttery aesthetic (which I was fond of, as a child). The tree with open door and stove in the front yard is slightly creepy. I'd prefer something a little more princess fairy than garden gnome. Black and white lines may indeed encourage amateur freestyling with crayons. Other options? |
