Do you have a set number of days? What happens if they go over that? |
Our city mandates 6 sick leave days per year. Once our nanny uses those, we will usually give her more sick leave for contagious illnesses. |
12 days I never use any ![]() |
Why? Don’t you have any dr appts? |
Since 2020, we get unlimited sick time and so does our nanny. We hardly get sick but our kiddos get all sort of sickness in the winter and eventually nanny gets the sniffles and unless she has fever she calls in. |
5 paid and 2 unpaid that accrues each pay period: We have given over more unpaid as needed and advanced paid sick as needed. If they go over the number of days, it is technically them breaking the contract, so I guess we could use it as reason to terminate, but our nanny has never abused it - just there in case we hired a bad Apple. |
Check your state employment rules-I know Maryland mandates a certain number of sick hours for household employees like nannies. |
I give unlimited and have not felt it has been abused. Technically our contract says 5 paid but I don’t end up tracking |
Unlimited paid leave? I would not write this in a contract, even for a very reliable nanny. If it turns out they have a prolonged illness or medical procedure, you would have to pay it. |
Unlimited sickleave. You wouldn’t want your nanny working sick and bringing in an illness to your child and then your child getting sick or you getting sick. It’s not abused. |
