New Year’s Day brunch

Anonymous
Hosting a get together at our home with about 12 friends (adults - our toddler will be the only child) and am looking for menu inspiration that can be mostly done ahead. Anyone else doing similar and what are you making?

Thinking of a make ahead French toast and savory baked make ahead (maybe the potato tart on NYT), salad, and maybe side of bacon and/or sausage. Need more app ideas. Want to do a baked cheese of sorts with a baguette and probably something else but not sure what.

Fruit salad. Deviled eggs always go immediately.

And I'd add a homemade quick bread. Mark Bittman's banana bread might be great, and you could make it in advance. Or if you want it savory, there is an amazing beer and cheese quick bread recipe, also at NYT.

If you are feeling fancy you could brown-sugar the bacon.

PP at 19:01 again -- you mentioned potatoes. I like this "garlicky mashed potato cake" at NYT: https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1023638-garlicky-mashed-potato-cake
