Starting to plan a trip there but it’s kind of overwhelming. It’s multiple trains and a bus to get there from our hotel and we can’t decide if we need a guided tour or not. Anyone been who can offer advice? (We are definitely going, just need help with logistics).

Wr took the bus and just did the self tour. Funny on our bus you couldnt look out the windows

I really don’t see the point of a guided tour. If the transportation sounds confusing, just get the ticket + bus combo so you only have to worry about getting yourselves to the pick-up location in London. I didn’t find the trains too confusing, but we only needed to take one, not multiple.

Same as the above poster. We took the bus and then did the self guided tour. Everything was easy to see and understand. Employees are there to answer any questions and we had a truly lovely time. I seem to remember that we needed cash for the bus fare. I might be wrong about this. But, have some pounds with you just in case. I was stressed about catching the bus, but it ended up being very easy to do. Have a wonderful time!

We took the train to Watford, and there is a bus that picks up from the station. It is easy as long as you leave enough time. No need for a guided tour, as it is all self-evident. Buy tickets well in advance, especially if you are going during school holidays. It does sell out.

Enjoy the Knight Bus! Self-guided works, that way you can linger over sets of interest to you.

Book tickets as soon as you can. It’s crazy how early it sells out.
You don’t need a tour — they have guides there.
We were going to take light rail but there was a strike so we Ubered. That was fine except we were going during rush hour which was awful. The ride back home (not rush hour) was fine.

Agreed. The train to Watford is from Euston so you just need to get there on the tube. It will be much faster than getting an Uber and obviously much less expensive.

We just went in November and we booked through a tour group. All they did was provide transportation, we did the self guided tour.

We are going tomorrow and booked through Golden Tours – the studio tickets were sold out back in early October when we planned the trip, so I booked through the tour group site and it included transportation (of course at a markup, but we wanted to go, so got tix any way we could).

We’d have taken the train to Watford if we’d been able to book directly through the studio site.

We’re just doing self-guided.
