How to be beautiful?

Anonymous
I am tired of being unattractive and ugly. I need your help on what I can do to improve my appearance.

I am 37 years old. Olive skin with dark brown eyes and black shoulder length hair. I am petite, 5'0 and weigh 120 lbs. I have a large crooked nose and small teeth. So no, I do not have a nice smile!

I am SO tired of being treated poorly and llooked over due to being ugly. I work out and I am working on losing weight. I know I need a nose job. What else can I do to enhance my beauty?

Man here. A fun personality and a decent body can make up for other shortcomings. Those are easily in your control. I'm not even sure you have a body issue -- 120lbs doesn't seem that heavy to me.

As for looks, sometimes the right use of make-up can make a big difference. Perhaps meet with a makeover person (whatever they are called) about that?

Whiten teeth, add layers to your hair, dress well, have excellent posture. Do the nose job, and then see how you feel about the rest of your face - it may diminish other things you dislike.

You can fix your teeth. Everything else just requires neatness and grooming.

If you can afford a nose job do it- it will make a big difference. Consult with a cosmetic dentist for teeth - maybe ask about veneers? but beware, the cost of dental work is outrageous. Also it is time consuming. If you can afford it, go for it. Both the rhinoplasty and dental are good investments in my opinion. Maximize your potential girl!
Consider a new hairstyle and a makeover. Less expensive than cosmetic procedures and also can make a big difference.

Phew!!

Those are easily in your control. I'm not even sure you have a body issue -- 120lbs doesn't seem that heavy to me.

Very generous, my liege.

They are indeed more or less called that! The aestheticians here thank you for your gentle suggestion!

OP for real, get a therapist.

You don’t need to be beautiful, it’s enough to be thin, well-groomed and well-dressed.

Am I going to get run off this board if I say more confidence? If you feel like that about yourself it shows. I feel like conventional beauty isn't so important, especially if you have your own style.

As a PP said, a good hair cut with layers and a side part does wonders for a larger nose like I have. Makeup also does wonders. Play up your eyes with some eyeliner and mascara. Find a flattering blush shade and lip gloss. Dress for your body type. You'll feel great!

Beauty is genetics for the most part. Do what you can -- orthodontics, get a good haircut and bother to style it, learn makeup techniques (YouTube). Style counts for a lot as well.

It takes a lot of work. All of those ridiculous southern school sororities that don't allow anyone who lives in the house to come down from the second floor with wet hair know what they are about with this stuff.

Know what they are about? Not sure they are the best standard....

Focus on the foundations - see a dentist for your teeth, see a derm for your skin, get a good haircut. Buy clothes that fit and flatter (esp bras! A good one makes you look thinner). Wear makeup. Wear clothes and accessories that make you feel great!

Get Invisalign and whiten your teeth. Go to the Mac or Sephora counter and pay for a daytime look. This should cost you less than $100 (I think it’s $70). Tell them to minimize your nose. Shower then get this done once a month on a Saturday afternoon for all of 2024 cost less than $1000 for the 12 times you’ll do it next year. You’ll also go out somewhere afterwards while you look good. You’ll be trying to learn the routine until you can do it yourself. You need to go during different seasons since you are olive and probably have a range of tones throughout the year. Practice smiling in the mirror, practice talking. Hold your head to your best angle. That’s the angle you will use when talking to prospects. I like black eye make up on brown eyed people. Make an emoji of yourself then try different hair with it before deciding what to do with your hair. Layers and waves look good with interesting noses. Too straight and too curly, not so much.

Confidence is attractive.

I'd skip the nose job they are always too narrow and can be spotted a mile away and don't age well...

I was recently watching a movie where the actress was both very pretty and not classically pretty.

I noticed, because I feel self/conscious about the places where she wasn’t classically pretty.

And somehow she was good looking. I don’t want to say who or what movie, because it may come off as unkind to her directly. She’s not a huge star.

Anyway, I think a nice smile, friendliness, maybe some better fitness, and (as she was acting) some confidence can go along way.

I’ve never had procedures done but I did do metal braces for a year. It made me feel a lot better about smiling big. That helps 2x (nice straight teeth, and appear friendlier and warmer than before)
