This helped my son's gait/way of walking A LOT

Thought I would post in case it is helpful to anyone. Son has HFA, pronation and flat feet and his gait was abnormal even with orthotics. For so many years we got those special mail order orthotics-Dafo chipmunks maybe- but finally now that his foot growth has slowed and we have good insurance, we got custom made orthotics specific to his feet. It makes such a difference. I wish we had done this earlier because his gait looks so much more normal and the more we can do to help him fit in the better. We could have tried it earlier because with our insurance the custom ones end up being cheaper than the mail order which are not covered at all. I had not looked into it enough and really didn't think about it until foot growth slowed.

Thanks for sharing! That’s great about your son!

That’s amazing and I’m glad his confidence is growing. I have an abnormal gait and very self conscious about it, and some pain associated at times too, so it’s great your son will hopefully not have this challenge to surpass.

So was it a podiatrist who did the custom ones? What kind of professional did you see for it?

Likely a prosthetist/orthotist

Thanks for the responses. It was a regular podiatrist. It's just I think getting them specifically made his feet made the difference. Plus the material used to make them is higher quality.
