Anyone bought a used designer handbag?

Anonymous
I need a new day and evening purse, and I don't need a designer bag, but the ones I like from Anthropologie and Madewell are still pretty expensive, around $200. For a few hundred more, I could get a used designer one, but has anyone bought one from Vestiare Collective, The Real Real, etc? How did that go?

I bought a LV Speedy at Wardrobe Rescue in Vienna, VA. They pretty much always have great stuff.

The real real and Vestiaire are great. I’ve bought from both. You can get amazing pieces. I’ve purchased Chanel from the real real

Not the same tier, but I bought my leather hobo from Longchamps used, and got great quality for the price.

Used is the way to go, OP. You can get any level of quality at much better prices.

Be careful of fakes. You’re better off deliberately buying a fake from DHG than tka the risk and $$ from the RealReal (or should I say the FakeFake)

I’ve bought multiple fake items on the real real. Beware!

That's terrible! Do you have any recourse if it's fake?

you are all being ridiculous. Most look DOWN on those hauling around name bags because it says a lot about YOU that you have to do same!

I’ve bought used bags from Fashionphile and The Real Real. I prefer Fashionphile over The Real Real, which, in addition to their fake goods problem, the Real Real doesn’t allow returns on handbags. Fashionphile has a 30 day return window so you can have a third party authenticator confirm the bag’s authenticity before the return window is up. The Real Real will take back a bag that is fake, but from what I’ve seen online, it’s an administrative headache. The one bag I bought from the Real Real was from a not so trendy handbag company so less likely to be faked, and the bag I bought was priced randomly lower (the real real will routinely misprice things because they’re sloppy) so I figured it was worth the risk.

I buy handbags that I like for me to enjoy. I don’t care what you think of my handbag. What any stranger walking down the street may think about me because of the bag I carry has literally no impact on me and my life. The fact that you think I care about what you think is what’s really ridiculous here.

+1
And I don’t really even notice other people’s handbags or clothing, unless I really like it.

Look closely at the photos, good quality designer bags don’t get discounted all that much if they’re in good condition. You rarely get 50% off unless there’s an issue.

I have also bought from Wardrobe Rescue. I prefer to be able to see the bag, look up the serial number myself, and google photos than bet on something I haven’t seen before to see how it fits and if I really like it.

I had such a bad experience with the real real. Their in person store had different pricing than on the web and after multiple attempts over hours for their web team to honor the pricing they still screwed it up. I had an event that night so ended up having to fight the credit card charge to get the correct pricing.

I regularly buy from Fashionphile and have never had any issues.
