First time in 15 years I didn’t receive one. Ironically it’s also the first time I had a reasonable accommodation to telework for disability. Not sure what to do. Duties, work, responsibilities haven’t changed. Reviews fine.
State does not give out annual bonuses.
I had never received a bonus, I always received a performance award? Is that what you mean?
Each agency is different. Do most people at your agency get a bonus each year? Is it part of your pay structure? If it is only some of the people who get bonuses, it could be “out of sight, out of mind”.
|
Yes I'm also confused between bonus vs performance award. You could start by asking your supervisor why you didn't get one. Maybe there was a mistake. Did you get a performance rating for the year already? That sounds strange since the calendar year hasn't ended yet (at least at my agency performance ratings are due end of January and bonuses given around March). Finally, did your coworkers under the same supervision get bonuses? You'll need to ask around. If you can rule out everything else then you may want consider filing an EEO complaint. Note you have 45 days from the time you found out you didn't get a bonus to file.

Yes OP meant performance award, I am sure.
You need to ask your supervisor or your coworkers in your work unit. People at other agencies won’t have the same circumstances. My agency has a very tight salaries and expenses budget during the CR so no one got a performance award yet, but I think we’re rare. Other agencies delay awards until January so they don’t count on your W2 for 2023. Just ask and stop guessing.
Please explain the difference between the two that has anything to do with the question asked. |
There is literally no difference between a performance award and a bonus. One is the formal terminology, but they are the exact same thing with bonus being the more commonly understood term.
My org doesn’t give any sort of end of year bonus but we can get performance awards throughout the year. Im a strong performer and got many in my first 18 years, but once I went part time for family reasons I never received one again. So yes I think your being remote is likely playing a role.
I got both. I get a performance award as a results of my rating and how many shares from the pay pool. I get bonuses for exceptional work. Performance award was $3500 and bonus was $500. Bonus is also called on-the-spot award.
Our performance awards are less than $3k. I need to switch agencies.
Ours are rarely over $1K. Usually just a few hundred dollars. |
State gives neither bonuses or performance pay, unless you are SFS or SES.
my performance award was $9020 this year. Capped no-sup GS-15.
