| Anyone else in an MCPS HS have hours of homework over break? |
| No, but my son in middle school has some large (state-level?) math test on the day they go back and was told to study on the break….no notice given on this! |
| My senior has some homework, but not as much as last year. He had a lot of work over the break last year from one teacher in particular, enough that it made me wonder what was up. |
| At the last 2 high schools I have been at, we were all told to not assign homework over breaks. |
| Mine does. I feel like my kids always had it in HS but not MS or ES. |
| Yes - both of ours do - middle and high school. |
| Yes, magnet hs. |
| Only doing overdue work. Just a couple weeks of the first semester left after they get back. |
| My Blair magnet kid doesn’t have any of note, which is a welcome relief after a heavy workload so far. There are a couple of projects due the second week of Jan, but they are mostly already finished anyway. And some prep for tests. |

My Rockville HS kid has a little, but it’s a long term project that was assigned a couple of weeks ago.
Next year they will be starting IB classes; so I anticipate more work over the break. |

As a teacher to anyone who gives work over a break: that’s a jerk move
The one exception could be AP because that is meant to be college level |
My son in MS was told to keep working during break on a Math "test", which his class started Wednesday before break and would continue when they return on Jan 3. Any insights would be most appreciated. |
| HS, yes, in several classes. Wasn't expecting this. Child is a freshman. |
| My sister is a tutor (former teacher) and this is one of her high seasons. Parents do not want their kids to lose momentum over the break. . |
Tell that to the counselors who tell families their students can make up Zs over break. |
