Does anyone know when Naviance is updated after EA/ED decisions are made? Main question my DC has is if Naviance was updated with the ED/EA acceptances that came out last week.
Is it a school by school process or is there an auto med feed that posts updates? Any info would be helpful. Trying to use that info to determine if it is worth applying ED2 to a reach. Will not be able to talk to counselor before the ED2 deadline due to the break. |
| I think most schools update once students have received all of their decisions but before they graduate. It’s usually self reported by the students. |
I would not trust Naviance for this sort of decision. Our counselor said it was self-reported, with some effort to check as final transcript requests came in, nothing automatic about it. No expectation of real time reporting. |

Thanks. I was not sure if there were feeds from the colleges back to the high school or it was a self report situation.
If self report don’t trust at all. Our high school results in Naviance are all over the place for T20s - I think mostly due to athletic recruits so it has really hard to figure out “realistic” reaches/ high targets. |
| I know that our private school updated Scoir after graduation. I’d assume most schools update then. |
| After the kids graduate |
Also keep in mind that the school might require a minimum number to report. For example, nothing gets reported on our Naviance instance until there’s an n of 5; this applies to applications and acceptances. So you might see 20 applications but no acceptances to an Ivy because only a couple of kids get in. Or you might see a school where it looks like no one has applied certain years, but that’s because fewer than five kids applied in those years. Etc. Naviance is useful only in the broadest strokes, in my experience. It’s not helpful for the sort of decision you’re describing. |
+1. well after. Sometimes Naviance can be two years out of date. |
| Our school's Naviance only has last year's data. Wah. |
DC has where they applied this year - but I question how accurate it is. Would have expected more Penn State applications- was down at least 20%, but hear it being talked about more. |
| Usually May and even then it’s up to the seniors what info they share. |
Students have to use Naviance to indicate which school they are entering so final transcript can be sent. Usually they update the rest of the results at the same time. I did notice last year that some students were updating as they got EA results and we could see the changes when we looked at the schools individually. |
| How do you self-report your acceptances? Not where you enroll but your acceptances? |
My kid’s school makes the students fill out a form and then the school enters the data. I wouldn’t be too concerned about self reporting. There is no incentive to lie. |
