Summer nanny- how much to pay?

Anonymous
Hi- We are trying to find childcare for our 18 month old over the summer. I just spoke with a college student which would like to live-in (no problem- we can accomodate that) and would like to be paid $400 a week. She would be working 30-40 hours a week with no evenings and weekends nor will she be helping with housework, etc.

So, the bottom line is: What should a live-in temporary nanny cost? $400 a week seems like a bit much.

Also, does anyone have any suggestions for finding summer childcare?

Thanks!

That actually sounds reasonable if she's educated and experienced. That's about $10/hour. You might have a hard time finding someone good for less than that.

That is a good rate. It is the standard for live-in if she has experience.
