RSM algebra II advanced level or honors

Anonymous
My son is taking algebra II at RSM. He was at honors level and found the materials challenging. I switched him to the advanced level, but now he’s telling me the material is too easy. He has no problem with the homework at all. What should I do now? Let him stay at the advanced level or move us to honors?

I would take the honors and accept that it is harder and going to challenge him. There isn’t a grade at RSM so he doesn’t have to get an A. Is he taking Algebra II at school? I know that Algebra II at RSM is an 8th grade class so he might be taking it ahead of Algebra II at school.

Honors seems to move faster so there may be some sections that he misses if you switch now - check with the teacher/principal to see if this is the case.

Honors moves a lot faster, it is meant to be challenging. I suspect it will be hard to move back into Honors if you dropped down to Advanced. There is missed work to consider and the fact that he was struggling with Honors in the first place.
