Matching stockings

If you are stocking hangers, at what point would you put up a stocking for your child’s SO?

Not until engaged/married.

Give presents instead.

I made a stocking for a boyfriend once when I was feeling crafty, but never expected ours to hang together on a mantel (high school boyfriend).

If SO will be there for whenever you open Xmas and everyone else gets filled stocking, would out up one but would not have name on it.

Just put “[your kid’s name] Current SO.”

This is what my MIL did until my husband and I got married. It was fine.

That's a thoughtful solution.

This. I have extra with no names. All Christmas morning guests get a stocking.

Personally, I see it as a commitment thing. If they have shown serious commitment over time, its as good as a ring or a license. People break engagements and marriage vows all the time so considering that no one deserves any trust or inclusion.

Love that!

So you have guests sit there and watch the family members open stockings, but the guests don't have one? That's rude.

Anyone who is at our house on Christmas morning gets a stocking.
