The latest reporting from Pro Publica is just so depressing.
Apparently Thomas out the word out (to Republican Congressmen, Rehnquist, etc) that he might resign from the Supreme Court because he wasn’t making enough money and the right wing money machine got worried so soon people came along to gift (sorry make a loan which was later forgiven) him a quarter million dollars to buy an RV, and private jet trips to fly him to yachts Indonesia, and pay off his mother’s mortgage and repair her house. Just disgusting, esp because through it all Thomas emphasized his “aw shucks I like to vacation at walmart” BS. The Robert Court is just a corrupt political institution that has lost all legitimacy. |

Right. Can’t wait for another conservative to win the White House and appoint a few more conservative judges! Lol!!! |
|
We can vote out members of congress.
Take your whataboutism and shove it where the sun don’t shine. |
| When you don’t think he can get any lower, he finds a way. Such an a- hole. |
+1 He’s become such a grubby cartoon that I half expect him to put a bill for service right in the opinion. |
| He threatened to leave under Clinton.....Gore could have won. |
| This will only get worse if trump is allowed within a hundred yards of the White House. |
|
Because he was the most reliable conservative vote on the SC. He could be counted to vote the right way 100% of the time. |
| John Roberts sucks. I say that because during his tenure as chief justice, the court’s reputation has slid into the garbage. The regressive members on his court are deeply corrupt. |
And he was willing to be bought. |
|
Very unfortunate. I'm very sorry it's ended this way.
My guess is there were other instances where he was harassing women (in addition to Anita Hill), and the people giving him all these perks ever so gently suggested they had the goods on him. Perhaps the Supreme Court needs to establish a way to catch these things early on, and a process to deal with the justices accepting gifts (bribes) like this. Bribery is the cancer that destroys a nation. |
At least under Roberts, but perhaps any Republican court, the Supreme Court has shown they believe themselves to be above the law. |

Hilarious. This Stearns character quotes Immanuel Kant of all people. Aren’t fascists enthralled by Kant? |
