Which crossover SUV?

I have a paid off Tesla model 3 and like the car, but we need a second car that’s larger. Already have level 2 charging installed at my house. Was thinking about buying a Model Y LR in cash, we would qualify for the $7500 tax credit by being just under the $300k/yr income cap. Comparing a brand new Model Y to a brand new Honda CRV, and factoring in cost difference, the Tesla is much more appealing to me.

Would anyone recommend something different?

thank you for telling me about the income cap on that tax credit.

My neighbor had the Y, now the X Plaid. He loves it. We've been in both, and the X felt much more solid.

The only drawback it seems to me is the way the back doors lift like wings. Basically, not tight spots for back doors.

If the back doors can open like regular doors, I would love to hear it.

We just bought the new CRV and love it. But, Tesla Y was not an option for use because the doors won't work for our garage, so I have not compared the two.

The Y doors open regular. It's the X doors that open like wings.

We have the rav4 Prime and love it. Electric for first 40-50 miles, then hybrid. The 40-50 miles covers our Monday- Friday driving (we recharge every night). Weekends roll into hybrid in occasion. We typically fill the tank once a month to 6 weeks.

Are you really getting 40-50 miles? Read somewhere that most PHEVs actually only give you 15-20 miles electric on one charge.

Bad idea. The infrastructure simply isn't there to support it (a quick fix on another car is going to cost you an outrageous amount of money on a Rivian due to lack of easy access to parts, etc).

We do in warm weather (above 55), which typically means we charge every other night. In the winter it drops to close to 28-35 miles, but that includes blasting the heater, seats, etc. in winter we charge every night.

I follow the prime FB page and have never seen anyone report 15-20 miles on a full charge. Maybe in Canada in the dead of winter?
