Laparoscopy and HSG questions

Anonymous
I am scheduled for a laparoscopy and HSG test and have a lot. Of questions. All of the literature seems to discuss the procedure itself and not the before/after process. If nothing out of the ordinary is discovered, will I be able to drive the next day? How bad was the neck and shoulder pain from the gas? How quickly did your stitches dissolve? Were you able to shower the following day? Did the dye from the HSG test leak out for many days? Do you suggest getting some pads for leakage? Was your next period on time and normal? Sorry for all the questions...I keep having them pop into my mind as I type!

Neck and shoulder pain was tolerable, just walk around when it occurs.

I don't know about driving the next day -in my case, I couldn't drive for a week. Even if your doc okays it, I would check with your insurance (some insurers have stipulations about driving post-anesthesia. Stitches were removed in office one week post-op. I was able to shower the same day (though I was too out of it to feel like it). I don't remember the dye leaking...I had a d&c done during the same operation (for polyps), and I wore a pad anyway. But I don't remember it being anything notable. I can't speak to the period following the procedure, as it really depends on what specifically they do during the surgery -they removed an endomiotrioma from me, and between that and the d&c, my next period was extremely heavy.
