Question --
If a swimmer gets a regional qualifying time during a duel meet, does the swimmer need to choose that event at districts in order to swim at regionals in that event? Or can that swimmer try for regional cuts in other events at districts and use the regionals cut as a fall back? |
No - if a swimmer has any cut (regionals, states) they don't have to swim that event at any of the earlier meets. |
NP here. For districts— are there qualifying times, or is it the top X swimmers in each event from each high school? |
Typically for districts, 4 swimmers from each HS per individual event. There are no qualifying time standards and a swimmer can be entered with a NT (no time). The NT entry usually happens when a top swimmer wants to swim an off event. |
Thank you! |
And what is the timing on when you find out who goes? Week of? |
Depends on the coach. Ours typically uses the tentative Districts lineup for a mid season meet, but it’s subject to change (for example, my kid swam in that meet and will almost certainly not swimming Districts, especially not in that event!). The final lineup gets released the weekend before , after the final dual meet. |
When are districts? |
For FCPS January 26 & 27 |
