| Can I take something sedating (xanax or benadryl) today? I'm really anxious and jittery. |
| Yes. I took 2 Xanax earlier this week for my cross country flight - took it 45 mins before my flight took off, then an hour into the flight I had a glass of wine. Nothing happened, and I have a very low tolerance. |
| Yes. Not sure how old you are but this started happening to me after 35. I no longer drink because of it. If I do it’s a single drink, early in the evening. |
| You're likely anxious and jittery from the alcohol unfortunately. Like PP I had to stop drinking. Maybe a mimosa here and there but no wine, multiple drinks, etc. |
| Same as 2 previous posters. I feel really anxious the next day if I drink. |
| Of course you can! |
| Yes you can, but I would take a low dose if you don’t take Xanax frequently. I find .25 mg (or even half of that) super helpful to take the edge off and still function. I agree with PPs that alcohol’s effects definitely changed as I got older. Way more anxiety now, def drinking more intentionally these days. |
Yes - me too. |

If you drank last night and need a xannie today, try not drinking for a month and see what it does for your anxiety levels.
Alcohol is a drug. While it's socially acceptable (especially in drunken DC), that doesn't mean your system can tolerate it well; lots of people lose the ability to drink w/o consequences as they age. Taking drugs to deal with the side effects of your other drugs is a fast track to some nasty fallout, friend. |
