| Does anyone have recs for therapists in the NOVA area to treat eating disorders that accept insurance. We've had a hard time finding someone that is accepting new patients. thank you in advance! |
| You have to go down the list of providers on your insurance plan and call every single one. It's the "accepting insurance" that's the deal breaker. . .if you go private pay you will find someone, but still just need to call until you do. |

PP, coming back to say this is also a place to look:
https://www.nationaleatingdisorders.org/find-treatment/ FEAST.org has a lot of resources. You can look into Equip - their program is virtual. Good luck! |
This. A lot of providers in this space are private pay only, unfortunately |
| The options here are slim. I have taken my child to some doozies. |
| Reston, VA - Colleen M Neumann, PsyD She’s the best. |
| ^^ She is not taking new patients and doesn't take insurance. |
This. In the word of SN or eating disorders , you need to get used to the fact that your insurance plan won't cover much of the treatments you need |
| I'm an ED therapist (out of state). Without knowing details about your specific situation, I'd suggest finding a therapist who uses evidence based treatment. For children with anorexia, the gold standard is Family Based Treatment. There are other evidence based treatments for bulimia and ARFID. We do not accept insurance, but many families request a super bill and submit to their insurance for some reimbursement. Some ED practices have fellows who have a reduced fee. I'd also suggest EQUIP and FEAST. Also, some practices conduct studies (we are running an intensive multi-family group free of cost) so you may be able to find treatment through that as well. |
| We are going to give Equip a try as they accept our insurance. Does anyone have experience working with them? |
