- because the speaker, Oakland city council member Dan Kalb, is Jewish and he expressed support for Israel on a social media post:
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/uc-berkeley-students-disinvite-jewish-environmentalist-from-speaking-to-class-about-climate-change/ar-AA1ly7z3 The MSN article also indicates the letter disinviting Council-member Kalb, states he is “no longer welcome on campus,” in light of his social media post. |
| LMAO. You know a school has gone off the SJW deep end when it's too woke for a climate change alarmist. |
| Yikes. The article makes it sound pretty bad. And looking at his twitter feed, he's really active on a number of progressive issues. The article says they mention his association with some jewish organizations -- not just israeli stuff. |
| Unless they left something egregious out of the article, the students were protesting that he's Jewish. That's it. |
LMAO. You know a poster is a moron when the refer to people researching the currently ongoing catastrophe of climate change as “alarmists.” I mean, I get that armies of people are paid by fossil fuel companies to pretend to be scientists so they can invent controversy about what all real scientists know is going on, but why morons like PP repeat the silly lies puzzles me. |
How do you know the climate nerds aren't the pretend scientists and the ones questioning it aren't the real ones? Both sides have credentials. |

The university didn't disinvite him. It was a group of students who signed a letter and tried to get him disinvited from giving a guest lecture.
The professor of the course disagreed with the students, but warned Kalb about the letter out of courtesy. UC Berkeley vehemently disagreed with the students and asked Kalb to present his lecture on environmental issues, noting "the provost will also be sending a message to every dean and department chair to remind them of Berkeley's support for an open exchange of ideas, and our rejection of political litmus tests when it comes to who can speak in our classes. The college leadership also intends to use what happened as an opportunity to engage the community in a discussion about the importance of diversity of perspective and the dangers of censorship of any sort." So yeah, he wasn't disinvited. A group of students through a hissy fit because Kalb tweeted about bringing home the Israeli hostages. |
Disagree. They were protesting against his support for Israel in light of Israel's indiscriminate massacre of thousands of innocent Palestinian men, women, children, and disabled. Israel has "smart bombs" which are used for precise targeting, but Israel is using "dumb bombs" to kill indiscriminately. |
1) Most importantly Evidence: --predicted models of these scientists are matching what is now playing out in the measured data. Predictions about the impact of changes in things like methane are matching actual outcomes. 2) Numbers: the numbers of studies/scientists that provide evidence that climate change is happening and is impacted by human factors. 3) Financial interest--one side's science is impacted by their funding which has a vested interest in diminishing human's impact on climate change--or at least the impact of their companies on climate change. |
The message sent and received was quite clear: Jewish people’s social media posts (all of them) will be screened for any possible indication a Jewish person dares speak well of the Jewish state. Try to astroturf all you like; but we got the message. |
|
If the speaker supports Israel, then he is a hypocrite--something pointed out in the letter signed by the UC-Berkeley students.
The speaker advocates for fair housing & equal rights in the Bay area, but supports apartheid Israel which forces over 2 million innocent Palestinians to live (and die) in abhorrent conditions. |
Jewish individuals and Jewish organizations persecute anyone who speaks out in support of the beleagured, innocent Palestinian victims of Israel's apartheid policies. |
Correct. And needless to say, there are Jewish people on both sides of this issue. |
I am certain Council member Kalb can expect a warm and welcoming audience, should he accept the university’s ameliorative invitation back on to campus (should he accept). My guess is he will decline. |
Hey you forgot to mention the Hamas indiscriminate slaughter of 1200 innocents that started the conflict. When one country gets invaded, it typically will fight back. See, I'm helping to educate you. Stay away from your Jewish neighbors. They are scary. |
